Konami reported Friday a 50.4% decline in profit to JPY3.65 billion (US$23.3 million) in its Gaming & Systems segment in the year ended 31 March 2026, with the company pointing to the impact of the US tariff measures and customers’ reluctance to purchase ahead of its upcoming new cabinet launch.
The lower profit came despite a slight 1.0% increase in segment sales to JPY43.1 billion (US$275 million).
The year saw Konami ultimately release its first new cabinet model in six years, the Solstice 49C, plus new gaming content for the cabinet and the launch of a new brand – “Konami Online Interactive” – aimed at expanding the group’s market share in iGaming.
However, Konami said it was eying a strong development pipeline for FY27, with the group “engaged in developing new slot machines, new gaming content and new features for the casino management system. We will also expand our efforts in the Specialty Markets and iGaming,” it explained.
“Going forward, by progressing with the development of various functions utilizing cutting-edge technologies and responding to client needs, we will aim to expand our market share.”
The company also issued guidance for the year ending 31 March 2027, with Gaming & Systems revenue expected to climb 6.8% to JPY46.0 billion (US$294 million) and profit by 78.1% to JPY6.5 billion (US$41.5 million).
For the year just passed, Konami’s group-wide revenue grew 17.1% to JPY493.7 billion (US$3.15 billion) with profit up 33.9% to JPY100.0 billion (US$638 million) – mainly due to the strong performance of key titles in its Digital Entertainment business.
