Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported industry-wide gross gaming revenue of MOP$19.9 billion (US$2.47 billion) in April, representing a 5.5% increase compared to the same month last year.
The figure was, however, 12.0% lower than in March, when GGR reached MOP$22.61 billion (US$2.80 billion).
For the first four months of 2026 combined, GGR has grown by 12.1% year-on-year to MOP$85.8 billion (US$10.6 billion).
Industry analysts had forecast continued strength in Macau in April but have warned that growth will likely slow from May onwards due to tougher comparisons with last year.
Seaport Research Partners wrote in a recent note, “We expect growth to slow unless we see a pickup in demand or liquidity improvement. We forecast 2026 to grow 7%, with 1H rising 9.8% and 2H slowing to 4.4%.”
Seaport analyst Vitaly Umansky added that this growth deceleration, coupled with increasing pressure on margins, will see operators become more attuned to fluctuations in expenses and player reinvestment as the year progresses.
