MGM Resorts CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle has revealed via a social media post that he recently met with He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, during a visit to Beijing.
Hornbuckle, who said Qifang Xu, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, was also present, was accompanied by MGM China’s Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho, CEO Kenneth Feng and MGM Resorts’ President of China Hospitality, Fred Zhou, on the trip. Zhou is also President of MGM’s China-facing hotel brand Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality – a joint venture between MGM Resorts and China’s state-linked Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
The meeting was an extension of Hornbuckle’s most recent visit to Macau, described as a “fitting and meaningful conclusion to an important visit.”
According to the MGM Resorts boss, the meeting saw the group “engage in a thoughtful and constructive conversation on business and tourism collaboration, cultural exchange, and the important role tourism can play as a catalyst for broader economic activity.
“We discussed the continued importance of supporting bilateral tourism, including expanding travel beyond major cities and leveraging major cultural, entertainment and sporting events to drive engagement.”
Hornbuckle said he and his fellow MGM representatives shared the company’s long‑term vision for Macau and mainland China, “reaffirming our commitment to delivering high‑quality experiences that are both grounded in local culture and reflect the evolving expectations of today’s global traveler.”
MGM operates two integrated resorts in Macau – MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI – and has interests in a number of hotel projects in mainland China via Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality.
