Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s flagship production, “House of Dancing Water”, has been presented with the Medal of Merit – Tourism at the Macao SAR Government’s 2025 Decorations, Medals and Certificates of Merit Awards Ceremony, held on Friday.
The Medal of Merit – Tourism recognizes significant contributions to the promotion and development of Macau’s tourism industry.
Premiering in 2010 before being reimagined in 2025 after closing during the pandemic, “House of Dancing Water” is widely acclaimed as a once-in-a-lifetime classic and one of the world’s largest water-based shows. To date, it has attracted millions of international visitors who come to Macau to experience the production.
The honor was received on behalf of the Melco team by Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho, who said, “This honor is a major affirmation of Melco’s steadfast commitment to enriching Macau’s entertainment offerings and advancing the sustainable, long-term development of the city’s tourism industry.
“With unparalleled artistry, professionalism and passion, they have brought this production to life and sustained its global acclaim. It is this talented team that forms the very soul of ‘House of Dancing Water’.
“Looking ahead, Melco will continue to invest deeply in Macau, actively enhancing its appeal on the international stage and fully supporting the city’s development as a ‘World Centre of Tourism and Leisure’.”
“House of Dancing Water” premiered in September 2010 and staged nearly 4,000 performances before temporarily closing in June 2020 during the pandemic. At the time, Melco explained that the production would be reimagined in response to the outbreak. Although it was originally scheduled to reopen in early 2021, the plan did not materialize.
The reimagined “House of Dancing Water” ultimately reopened in May 2025.
