Macau’s hotel occupancy rate increased by 5.1 percentage points year-on-year to 89.1% for the first six months of 2025 combined, although the actual number of hotel guests decreased by 1.0% to 7.2 million, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service. Those source markets that registered year-on-year increases included mainland China, up 0.8% to 5.4 million, while the number of international guests grew by 8.6% to 590,000.

The improved hotel occupancy rate for the first six months of 2025 followed a strong June where the average occupancy rate rose by 5.6 percentage points year-on-year to 88.4%. The average length of stay remained at 1.6 nights.

The total number of hotel guests in June was approximately 1.2 million, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year. Among these, five-star hotels accounted for the largest share, with approximately 620,000 guests – an increase of 5.1% year-on-year – and an occupancy rate of 92.4%, an increase of 8.2 percentage points year-on-year.

Guests from mainland China accounted for the largest proportion, with 862,000 in June, up 8.1% year-on-year. However, the number of guests from Hong Kong slightly decreased by 1% to 173,000.

International guests in June numbered approximately 91,000, a slight increase of 1.5% compared to the same period last year. Among them, Korean guests were the most numerous, with approximately 24,000 – an increase of 6.5% year-on-year.

As of the end of the first half of this year, there were 147 hotel establishments providing accommodation services in Macau, an increase of four compared to the same period last year. The number of available rooms decreased by 3.8% to 45,000.
