Macau concessionaire SJM said Tuesday that it will embark on a comprehensive upgrade program of “all typical rooms” at its peninsula property Grand Lisboa – part of a broader roll-out of new and enhanced facilities across its Macau operations this year.
Rooms at Lisboa Hotel, located alongside Grand Lisboa, will also be upgraded.
According to information accompanying its FY24 financial results, the work will include “full renovation of all typical rooms” as well as a 10% increase in total room inventory via the conversion of former junket areas into exclusive villas, mansions and suites.
“As this transformation unfolds, the appending Hotel Lisboa will be rolling out its own newly refurbished rooms in phases, seamlessly supporting Grand Lisboa’s operations in a closely coordinated effort to minimize disruptions,” SJM said.

The company also revealed plans to enhance the F&B and MICE offerings at both Grand Lisboa and Cotai property Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in the coming months.
At GLP, which SJM said in its results announcement has significantly boosted its Macau GGR market share over the past year, seven new dining concepts are in the works offering a variety of cuisines, while three new restaurants will be launched at Grand Lisboa.
“These venues will create a well-balanced F&B portfolio for SJM by expanding mass-market offerings in response to demand, driving incremental revenue and enhancing the competitive positioning of both properties,” it said.
In the MICE space, SJM will add two new event spaces at GLP, comprising a 2,000-square-metre flexible indoor-outdoor venue called Garden House and a 2,900-square-metre venue outfitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual and conference facilities, called Grand Hall. Combined, these new additions will expand the property’s MICE capacity by 132%
New function rooms and a refurbished grand ballroom will also be introduced to Grand Lisboa.
SJM said the upgrades are aimed to ensuring the company’s continued market relevance.
