Following a large-scale roadshow held in Tokyo in March, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), together with Macau’s six concessionaires, organized a large-scale roadshow in Singapore on Thursday as a way to attract visitors from Singapore.
According to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), 25,623 Singaporean tourists visited Macau in the first quarter, ranking eighth for foreign source markets, but up 263% compared to the same quarter last year. There are now two daily flights between Macau and Singapore.
The MGTO’s second major overseas roadshow of the year was held in Singapore from 25 to 28 April, with the agency continuing to work with Macau’s travel trade and its concessionaires to set up booths at the roadshow. The venue of this roadshow was the central waterfront district of Singapore, a major shopping area in the city.
The MGTO pointed out that the roadshow was inspired by “twisted dice” to create a unique space, using a colorful main visual to showcase Macau’s multiculturalism and unique “Tourism +” elements.
In addition, the MGTO, trade representatives and the concessionaires held a seminar on Macau’s tourism industry at the Suntec Singapore Convention Centre on Thursday. The meeting was attended by about 100 people. MGTO representatives introduced the latest development of Macau’s tourism industry to the Singaporean travel trade, while representatives from the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) introduced Macau’s MICE and business environment.
The MGTO said the government is focused on expanding visitation from Singapore “through different ways to strengthen the promotion, including co-operation with Air Macau, Singapore Travel Service and Macau Travel Service to launch different promotions, so as to encourage the travel trade of both sides to think of more targeted tourism products.
“We hope to attract more Singaporean and Southeast Asian travelers to visit Macau as their first choice and promote the development of Macau’s international visitor source markets.”
Roadshows are large-scale overseas events organized by the MGTO since the re-opening of Macau on 8 January 2023, with the aim of attracting foreign tourists to Macau.
