PAGCOR has celebrated its 40th birthday by unveiling a brand-new corporate logo, which the agency says represents its “re-energized” role as the main gaming regulator in the Philippines.
Marking the occasion via a ceremony at Marriott Hotel Manila on Tuesday, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco said the new logo “incorporates the element of fire associated with energy, inspiration, passion and transformation. It symbolizes the flame that ignites change and drives progress. The logo likewise reflects a beacon which symbolizes guidance, leadership, and direction. It represents a guiding light that helps people find their way.
“All these taken together, our new logo reflects PAGCOR’s long standing commitment of being a guiding force that illuminates the way forward, drives transformation and development, and brings inspiration and motivation to the lives it touches.”
PAGCOR was created in 1983 by virtue of Presidential Decree 1869, also known as the PAGCOR Charter, issued by then President Ferdinand Marcos, and it was fitting that Tuesday’s ceremony was attended by current President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr.
Tengco also revealed that PAGCOR’s contributions to nation building had totaled Php45 billion (US$815 million) in the year since President Marcos was inaugurated, and is expected to reach Php70 billion (US$1.27 billion) by the end of the year.
Since it was formed, PAGCOR has been one of the government’s largest revenue generators with the agency’s total contributions in that time standing at Php671 billion (US$12.15 billion), comprising Php607 billion (US$10.99 billion) in contributions to nation building and Php64 billion (US$1.16 billion) in dividend remittances.
