The Macau government took in MOP$7.9 billion in direct taxes from gaming in October, a slight increase on the MOP$7.6 billion it collected in October 2017 but down on its MOP$9.6 billion in gaming tax revenue in September 2018.
Nevertheless, October’s haul pushes the government’s 2018 total to MOP$88.2 billion in direct taxes from gaming – a substantial 15.6% increase year-on-year, according to latest figures released by the Financial Services Bureau.
Gaming tax revenue has comprised 80.5% of the MOP$109.5 billion in total revenue gained so far this year, with the government now having surpassed its revenue budget for the year of MOP$105.3 billion.
The government surplus currently stands at MOP$49.7 billion.
