SJM Theodore Racing by Prema to field five cars in 65th Macau Grand Prix

SJM Theodore Racing by Prema will field a record number of cars in this year’s Macau Grand Prix with five drivers to line-up for the 65th edition of the event.

Leading the charge will be none other than newly crowned FIA Formula 3 World Cup champion Mick Schumacher – the 19-year-old son of seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher – fresh from a scintillating season that saw him claim seven pole positions and eight wins in the European FIA-sanctioned series. Schumacher’s father was a previous winner of the Macau Grand Prix in 1990.

Joining him on the famous Guia Circuit will be Chinese star Guanyu Zhou, returning for his third straight appearance at the Macau Grand Prix. The 19-year-old Ferrari Driver Academy graduate ended his European season with a win at Hockenheim and will be the most experienced man in the SJM Theodore Racing by Prema stable.

Twenty-year-old Estonian Ralf Aron and rookies Robert Shwartzman of Russia and Marcus Armstrong of New Zealand will complete the team’s quota.

Since its inception in 1974, Theodore Racing has triumphed a record eight times in Macau and will be aiming for number nine in 2018. This year’s event will also mark the sixth year of the successful relationship between PREMA and Theodore Racing, which started by winning in 2013.

“We are delighted to welcome SJM on board as title sponsor and official partner for our 2018 Macau Grand Prix campaign,” said team founder Teddy Yip Jr. “SJM has been a trusted and committed collaborator with Theodore since 2013 and nothing gives me greater pride than seeing our all-Macau effort competing on one of motorsport’s most iconic stages.  It’s been an incredible season already but topping the podium in the Macau Grand Prix would unequivocally be the highlight for SJM Theodore Racing by Prema.”
