The number of people employed by Macau’s gaming and junket sector increased by 2,100 to 85,100 in the three months to 30 June 2018, according to information released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
That figure means the gaming and junket sector comprises 22.1% of all people employed in Macau, with the city’s total employment rising by 2,300 people for the period to 385,400, including 284,200 residents. Median monthly earnings for those working in gaming and junkets stayed flat at MOP$20,000 (US$2,475) per month, well ahead of average Macau-wide earnings of MOP$16,000.
The construction sector also enjoyed an increase of 3,300 people to 32,100, with median monthly earnings of MOP$15,000.
