South Korea’s Grand Korea Leisure is ratcheting up its marketing to Chinese high rollers.
GKL, which operates three casinos in Seoul and Busan under the brand name Seven Luck, says it has nearly tripled the number of marketing personnel dedicated to the lucrative VIP trade from its giant neighbor. The China staff, which numbered 29, has been increased to 60, according to company sources cited by AsiaOne.
In the fourth quarter of last year, GKL’s total wagers exceeded 1 trillion won (HK$7.2 billion/US$900 million) for the first time, bolstered by the table drop attributed to players from China, which was estimated at 392.8 billion won, 35.7% of the total and an 80.2% increase year on year.
The company said it expects that contribution to grow going forward.
