PRESS RELEASE
LAS VEGAS, June 2, 2011 — Bally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI), a leader in slots, video machines, and casino-management systems for the global gaming industry, today announced that its Code Red video slot won the Gold Award and the Attendee’s Choice award in the annual “Top 20 Most Innovative Products Awards,” announced at last week’s Gaming Technology Summit in Henderson, Nev.
These two awards for Code Red follow a third-place award in the 2011 Slot Floor Technology Awards, announced last month.
Derik Mooberry, Bally’s Senior Vice President of Products and Operations, accepted the Code Red awards on behalf of Bally Technologies. “It is quite an honor that attendees of the Gaming Technology Summit selected Code Red from the many innovative products available to vote for, and we appreciate their confidence in this trailblazing game. Code Red bridges the gap between stepper and video slots, offering a true stepper experience in a game that delivers great features found in video slots.”
Mooberry added that Code Red is Bally’s first game to be featured on the new ALPHA 2™ Pro Series™ Curve game cabinet, and the Company’s game developers are working on a number of other visually stunning and feature-rich games for this platform.
Code Red’s leading-edge curved LCD display makes video reels virtually indistinguishable from mechanical reels. The game contains Bally Technologies’ award-winning U-Spin™ gesture-control play mechanic and the fully integrated, interactive iDeck™ touch-screen button deck.
The U-Spin feature in Code Red awards free games, one of three progressive jackpots, or bonus credits. Players activate the U-Spin-enabled “Wheel Bonus” via a touch-screen glass display mounted in front of the curved LCD that allows them to touch and spin the virtual wheel – as if it were a real wheel.
In addition to the two honors for Code Red, three other Bally Technologies products were named among the top 20 – the iDeck interactive touch-screen button deck; Service Tracking Manager™, a browser-based dispatch system that interfaces with handheld smart devices for faster routing of casino personnel to fulfill casino guest requests; and TableView Chip Recognition™, a cutting-edge table-games technology that provides casino operators with the ability to view the gaming chips with advanced camera technology.
